Republic Day 2011 was celebrated by the Embassy of India in Astana in a solemn and joyous ceremony at the Indian Cultural Centre in the morning of 26th January 2011. The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the national tri-colour by Mr. Ram Singh, the Charge d’ Affairs. The flag hoisting was followed by the National Anthem sung by all the people gathered for the ceremony. |

Mr. Ram Singh welcomed the guests on the occasion and read out the address of the President of India to the Nation delivered on the eve of the Republic Day to the assembled guests.

Members of the Embassy accompanied by staff of the Indian Cultural Centre and local students sang patriotic songs on the occasion. They were joined in their performance by all the assembled guests. |

A Reception was organized on the occasion by the Embassy and the guests enjoyed the sumptuous refreshments and traditional Indian Snacks.
Despite the inclement weather and the temperature hovering around minus 28 degree Centigrade, the ceremony was attended by a large cross-section of people including members of the Indian community, friends and supporters of India as well as officials of the Indian Embassy. The occasion enabled the members of the Indian community to meet and interact with each other in a happy and joyous atmosphere.
