RECEPTION AT EMBASSY RESIDENCE

1. A Reception was organized in the Embassy Residence on 29th June 2010 in honour of the visiting delegation from the United Services Institute of India (USI) to Kazakhstan. USI is one of the premier institutes in India engaged in the field of national security, defence strategy and international relations. The institute actively interacts with many institutions in foreign countries and conducts and participates in seminars on strategic issues and international relations.
2. The delegation visiting Kazakhstan comprised Lieutenant General (Retired) PK Singh, Director of USI, Ambassador Rajiv Sikri (former Ambassador of India to Kazakhstan) and Lieutenant General (Retired) VInay Shankar. The delegation participated in a joint seminar on strategic and security issues organized by the Military Strategic Institute, Astana and in a seminar on Indo-Kazakhstan relations organized by the Kazakhstan Institute of Strategic Studies, Almaty.
3. The Reception was attended by a number of members of Parliament, representatives of the Ministry of Defence, Rectors of Universities, senior government officials and prominent journalists. The Reception provided an opportunity to the delegation members to interact with their interlocutors in an informal setting.
