Independence Day 2009 was celebrated by the Embassy of India, Astana in a solemn and joyous ceremony at the Indian Cultural Centre in the morning of 15th August 2010. USI is one of the premier institutes in India engaged in the field of national security, defence strategy and international relations. A 10 member delegation from the Leather Export Promotion Council of India visited Kazakhstan from 26 -29 May 2010. The delegation comprised representatives of leading companies dealing in raw and semi-finished products. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh met President Nursultan Nazarbayev on the sidelines of the Nuclear Summit in Washington on 11 April 2010. The meeting lasted 45 minutes. Republic Day 2010 was celebrated by the Indian Embassy in Astana in a solemn and joyous ceremony at the Embassy Residence in the morning of 26 January 2010. The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the national tri-colour by Ambassador HE Mr Ashok Sajjanhar. The International Women’s Club in Astana organized a Charity Bazaar in Hotel SAS Radisson on 07 December 09 to raise funds for donation to local orphanages and charities. Numerous stalls were opened on the occasion by ladies of the diplomatic community. A Joint Indo – Kazakhstan Mountaineering Expedition to Marble Wall Peak in Kazakhstan was held from 20 August – 08 September 09. Marble Wall Peak is 6,400 metres high and is a technically challenging and demanding peak. The joint expedition consisted of six persons from the Indian Army and 10 persons from the Central Army Sports Club of MoD, Kazakhstan. »»

A Gala Dinner was arranged at the Intercontinental Hotel in Almaty to celebrate the India Expo on 21st May 2009. In his address, H.E.
